Remote Filming

Remote Filming Service

Remote filming offers clients a way to film at a distance.

It means that video production can continue despite that fact that people can't always travel easily or be in the same room together. I first undertook this kind of work when filming with Microsoft at their UK headquarters, while I had a team remotely monitoring the interview live from the USA.

This approach has proved very helpful in response to the Covid pandemic.

Undertaking remote film production comes with its challenges and I have designed a workflow that incorporates a camera kit that can be posted out to interviewees to allow them to capture HD footage and professional audio from their laptops or mobile devices. This type of self recorded content can be very powerful when it’s done right. I have produced a series of how to guides to accompany the kit to allow people to set it up correctly before filming. Im always there to support them on a video call or the phone too.

Read the case study below to see how I used remote filming techniques to produce video content for Three Rivers District Council.

I highly recommend working with Rob if you’re considering remote filming, it has opened up so many more creative opportunities for us.

Testimonial

“At a time when we aren’t able to run activities or engage with our local community in the same way, creating a short film to promote our unique Heritage Trail felt like the perfect thing to do- encouraging people to visit their local park and engage with the artwork and heritage, in their own time. Hearing about the sculptures from the artists themselves would bring that to life, but face-face filming with them just wasn’t an option for us.

Rob didn’t see this as a problem and straight away, researched and gave us a few options of how we could tackle this remotely. Having not done this before, there were a few technical obstacles to work around, but Rob handled all of this and spent a lot of time getting it right. Testing software, posting out equipment to artists, conducting technical tests and directing them in real time- it felt like a really smooth process.

The artists fed back that they found the filming enjoyable and manageable and for us, we have some amazing footage of artists in their working environments- which we would never had seen before.  I highly recommend working with Rob if you’re considering remote filming, it has opened up so many more creative opportunities for us”.
