Local Government

I’ve always had close ties with local government. My mum worked at the town council for many years; she instilled a sense of civic pride in me from a young age and it’s something I bring with me to every project.

Local councils use my services to help with a range of video production needs. From carefully planned media training to fast turn around run and gun style filming and everything in between.

Media training

The Local Government Association book me annually to deliver their ‘Next Generation’ media training programme for emerging political leaders. Over the past eight years, I have taught more than 200 councillors how to appear professionally on camera and deliver a confident interview.

Public relations

Local councils are increasingly looking to communicate positive news stories within their areas. Getting to the heart of a story is what matters, then finding the human connections that will engage your audience. See how I did this for Hertsmere Borough Council and Arsenal in the Community around a free school meals project.

Crisis communications

The Covid-19 pandemic challenged local authorities in unprecedented ways. Councils used video to convey crucial public health messages quickly and effectively across their social media networks. My work in this area has been on national BBC News.

Documentary

I followed the cohort of the 2023 LG Challenge around the UK documenting their adventure. Filming on location in Boston, Cheltenham, Cherwell, Stockton-on-Tees, Wigan and finally Bournemouth at the LGA annual conference. Part of my role was to work with the LGA team and contestants to increase their knowledge and skills around film making. Watch the films here.
